In highlight of International Women's Week, we interviewed german born female artist Nykolai Alexander, who goes by the nickname * nykolai here on deviantART. Nykolai grew up in a rather typical artistic environment, including drawing with crayons and watercolor, receiving piano and ballet lessons, an art collector as father and and a grandmother supporting her creativity. Later on in her life she went to England to study Music and Theater for a year, passing on a bit of work in the film scene back in Germany shortly after her studies. In between all that while being a teenager, she picked up on traditional art again after a short break and also discovered digital arts after joining an internet forum. Nykolai's paintings are full of emotion possess an intriguing level of realism and depth.
